During this portion of the interview, Jennifer and I focused on Talent Management, through the eyes of the real estate CFO.
According to Jennifer:
- The talent pool is pretty small
- They are looking for a higher caliber of employee
- Employees need to be well rounded
Here is an interesting concept, managing real property is not about dirt, it’s all about people. I would take that concept even further. Every part of the real estate business is about people, from purchase through management and sale.

GFI Capital Resources Group, Inc. is a leading provider of comprehensive real estate, finance and insurance services. The company’s various divisions include: development, acquisitions, construction, property management, real estate sales and finance, mortgage banking and insurance along with their affiliate GB Lodging, LLC. Currently GFI owns/manages approximately 8800 units nationwide and manages an additional 7,000 units through its third party affiliate. GFI owns and asset manages several hotels most notably the ACE Hotel in New York and Palm Springs. GFI is also responsible for the development and management of several residential condominium and mixed use projects. As Chief Financial Officer I have direct oversight responsibility for the company and all related affiliates.
